In two of my previous articles, I spoke of OA and cholesterol, two major ills affecting much of the population. But I have not spoken of diabetes, which appears, as you know, when you have a high sugar in the blood. It also affects many individuals and can have unpleasant consequences, especially since it is difficult to control especially for food lovers who find it difficult to do without sweets, among others.
To see if you have diabetes, just do a blood test and to check your blood sugar. If too high, you have diabetes.
Beware, there are two types of diabetes:
- Juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent (or Type I diabetes): it concerns the people, especially young people, who have a pancreas that does not produce enough insulin. They are therefore forced to inject insulin. The latter is a hormone produced by the pancreas that controls how cells of your body convert sugar into energy that you swallow.
- Diabetes mellitus or fat or non-insulin dependent (or Type II diabetes): it concerns individuals who, due to poor diet (too much sugar and too fat) have a pancreas that malfunction. Here, it is not necessary to inject insulin.
Neither diabetes should be taken lightly. To see if you have, there are some warning signs that can alert you: blurred vision, excessive thirst, a difficulty for your little injuries heal, an urge to urinate frequently, fatigue, tingling sensation .
If symptoms develop, see your doctor immediately because the consequences can be severe: cardiovascular disease, severe vision and kidney damage, nerve damage.
If you are prone to these types of diabetes, do not overlook above and do everything to try to minimize. Ideally, of course, is to act on prevention and do whatever it takes to not have diabetes. But in any case, I repeat, see your doctor who will advise appropriate treatment, tailored to your specific situation.
Here, however, some things you can do (after taking advice from your doctor):
Above all, one of the things to do when you have diabetes is to watch your feet. Do not laugh, it's very very important. Indeed, diabetes decreases at you the sensation of pain and therefore you can easily hurt you, you scratch without you realizing it. This infection, minimal initially, can worsen rapidly and lead to gangrene, which leads, in turn, amputation of toes or foot. This is not so rare that one of my neighbors had to be amputated one of his feet.
So to avoid coming to these extremes, wash your feet daily, dry them properly; watch them morning and evening and treat any cuts, the lower bulb.
After the feet, teeth, you must be monitored regularly by your dentist because diabetics have brittle teeth. Brush them thoroughly and regularly, three times a day is ideal.
Changing some of your eating habits can sometimes be enough to lower your diabetes.
- If you're overweight, the first thing to do is try to lose weight by eating less sugar and less fat and more fiber (contained in cereals, fruits such as grapes) and vegetables green (like broccoli, and watercress). These slow the time it takes for glucose to enter your body.
- Eat lots of fish because they are rich in omega 3 and less meat.
- Use and abuse of spices like cinnamon, cloves and turmeric. In contrast, significantly decrease your intake of salt.
- Drink plenty. The water and the decoction of burdock and olive leaf, remove the excess sugar in your blood for diabetes mellitus. Some vegetable juice, as juice of raw potato juice or watercress can help you lower your blood sugar, as the infusion of blueberry leaves.
- Avoid eating too much sugar, too much fat in order to minimize your bad cholesterol, thus increasing both the risk of contracting cardiovascular disease.
This new diet may be accompanied by a sport rather small exercises reasonable walking type, qi gong and swimming. In practice only after talking to your doctor because your diabetes may well forbid you to do such exercises.
That is, generally, in 90% of cases, a change in your eating habits, in consultation with your physician, can help stabilize and reduce your diabetes. The key is to take it very seriously because you will bite your fingers if, ultimately, you become blind or if you amputate, just because you continued to be negligent, if you say "the doctor gave me some pills so I can eat whatever I want "-
The vigilance and regular consultation with your doctor are the only ways to reduce your diabetes.
